Edition #2-Reminiscence

Reminiscence

By Arpita Samanta TE EXTC

Seems like just yesterday,
Sitting huddled under the berry tree
Boasting about our days victories
We feasted on the stock of berries
On that glorious day, years ago
No worry ,not a care was there to bother us.

Do you recollect that sunny afternoon?
When towards the lawn sprinklers ,
We charged, leaping and screaming!
All drenched in water, from head to toe.
Your mum stormed at us, at the doorstep
As we stood with mischievous and mirthful giggles!

All secrets we shared, swearing to take them
To our graves. Shamelessly crying and laughing.
Warring and making up in no time.
A promise to stay together, written on paper,
Sealed into a bottle, safely under the soil lies
Everything faded away, with passage of time

Even through changing course of life,
And swiftly moving times, I often hear a beckon,
Resonating from the boulevard
Adorned with cherished recollections,
Of our countless childhood antics
And all the playful times we shared.

It amazes me now , to see us change so radically
When we have chosen our paths apart.
I m searching for the reason why,
Its all come down to an occasional
Hi, whats up? Been a long time
Spanning into an unexplained silence.

They say , now the world is much smaller

Then why does it seem like,
You and me have distanced, moved farther away?
Now we stand aloof, staring at each other
At a grave loss of words to share,
And only withering memories to recall

I would like to claim this to be the best article so far since these feelings are not alien to anybody from our particular age group and also because it is never easy to compose a prose or poem if you would like to call it.

I know its late but better late than never. Just reminds me of the time we sat together(sem2) when both of us were new to each other and the whole class.Hope we dont lose touch after we graduate.
